Need a new pump - suggestions please

Need a new pump - suggestions please

Hello all,

can someone point me to a pump that works well but not the blue pump.  The pump will be used in an appleseed with a static mixer and vernturi.

I would buy one of Murphy's pumps but they demand 20amps on 120v and my maximum availability is 10amps.

would a semi-open impeller centrifuge pump do the job?

what specifics am I looking for in the pump aside high volume and high rpm 3450 on the motor.

TIA

Evan

Re: Need a new pump - suggestions please

did some more research and it appears that a radial peripheral pump is what I need. Their style seem to replicate the blue/Pedrollo pumps.

Is the Pedrollo pump the same as the NT blue pump as they look alike, anyone ever report any differences to pay more for the Pedrollo?

Has anyone found any other radial peripheral impeller in a centrifugal pump, if so, can someone list where I can buy one.

Re: Need a new pump - suggestions please

anyone ever use the pitbull shown on this website?

regenerating pumps like the little  blue centrifuge pump gets rave reviews,
Murphy's pump is an open impeller centrifuge pump and get rave reviews,
pitbull pump is a closed centrifugal impeller and looks like it would do the job.

so there are many different style of impellers that clear do the job so when choosing a pump for an appleseed the bottom seems to get the highest volume flow possible and it an nutshell that is the answer.

does seem accurate? can  a guru chime in?

Re: Need a new pump - suggestions please

The pit bull was used by several people a few years ago. It did a fine job as a mixing pump. However it did draw just over 10amps and had an overheating problem. The pictures show the modification needed to keep the motor from overheating.  If you have a 10 amp limit, then you want to keep looking.

Re: Need a new pump - suggestions please

so I keep looking for the highest volume flow at my amperage spec and no matter the impeller type as long as its metal.

or should I avoid specific metals as i might at one point entertain some acid use; in this case is brass my only choice?

Re: Need a new pump - suggestions please

Evan,

There is no such thing as a perfect pump. If there were, it would be to expensive. The blue (now red) pump from NT if just fine and cheap. Just be sure to add in a fuse on the hot side to prevent it from overheating if it locks up.

As far as specific metals, stay away from aluminum.
